Biological parents of adopted children
Adopted children over the age of 18 are entitled to receive information about their biological parents. A number of bodies are responsible for giving the adopted people information about their biological background, regardless of when the adoption took place. The County Governor is able to provide information on adoptions that took place before 1 January 1999. For cases relating to more recent adoptions, the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs provides such information.
